Flavor: Fred's first tobacco was launched in 2006. Their goal was to offer something unique, and to achieve this, Fred asked cannabis specialists to advise them on defining the flavor of this product. It was clear that no tobacco on the market was designed for recreational smokers: at the time, cannabis was illegal almost everywhere in the world, and no major company wanted to be associated with it!

Fred's goal wasn't to preserve the full marijuana flavor (this could easily have been achieved with an unflavored tobacco), but to enhance it! Fruity cannabis styles blend perfectly with Fred Rose. Pure Haze-style cannabis is more complicated, as its acidity is higher and therefore requires more "orange-style" tobacco like Fred Original.

Fred Special Blend is probably the only product in the Fred family that has never changed since its introduction. There was one exception in 2014 when Fred had to replace a tobacco blend: they received an incredible number of calls and complaints! Good lesson learned, and they now stockpile enough of that particular blend to avoid that anxiety-inducing situation again.
