The world of CBD concentrates
CBD hash and pollen are the essence of the hemp plant. They consist of the collected trichomes (resin crystals) that are separated from the rest of the plant material using various sieving methods. However, there are significant differences in quality in the growing market. At Cannabees, we use only pollen from our own indoor production for our concentrates.
The 3 pillars of hash quality
1. The texture and consistency
The texture reveals a lot about the processing and resin content:
-
Pollen (Dry Sift): Classic pollen should be golden yellow to slightly greenish and have a fine, slightly crumbly texture. It should not be bone dry – a sign of too much plant material and too little resin.
-
Creamy Hash/Chocolate Cake: This hash has a high content of essential oils. It is soft, sticky, and can be shaped without fire, using only the warmth of your hands.
-
Praline/Royal Bar texture: A high-quality intermediate shape that appears firm but reveals a soft, almost velvety texture when broken open.
2. The aroma profile (The nose decides)
A top-notch hash never smells like "hay" or old grass. It should have a deep, complex terpene profile.
-
Freshness: Good hash smells vibrant. If the product smells musty or neutral, it is probably old or has been stored improperly.
-
Purity: A pungent, chemical, or artificial smell often indicates the addition of synthetic terpenes. At Cannabees, we rely on the natural power of the plant – what you smell comes directly from the resin.
3. The burn rate and the color
When testing the hash, pay attention to the color when you break it open. The inside should be lighter and "fresher" than the outer layer, which darkens slightly due to oxidation. High-quality hash leaves a light ash when burned and "sweats" slightly when brought near a flame—a sign of a high resin content.
Why indoor pollen makes the difference
Many inexpensive hash products consist of leftovers from outdoor production. At Cannabees, we take a more elaborate approach: Our premium hashes are based on trichomes from our indoor-grown flowers. Why? Because indoor pollen is cleaner, contains fewer dust particles, and has a significantly more potent aroma.
Laboratory testing: Trust is good, analysis is better
Appearances can be deceiving, but lab tests won't. We analyze every batch for its CBD and THC content. This ensures that our hash not only tastes fantastic but also complies with all legal limits and is free of contaminants.
